Message from the Chair
I would like to wish all members a Happy New Year as we look forward to 2024.
The committee is working hard to finalise our programme for the year ahead. Detailed below are those events which we have confirmed. In addition, there are some where details are still to be finalised. Booking forms will be sent to members after the Annual General Meeting, for which details are shown below.
Many thanks to those of you who have renewed your membership. Just to remind those who have yet to renew that you need to do so before the AGM.
I look forward to seeing you at the AGM.
2024 Confirmed Events
19th to 21st April Firle Garden Show. We will again start our year at this very popular and well attended event.
29th & 30th June Broyle Country Show. This has now become a fixture in our programme. The scope and extent of the show has increased each year and now attracts a good footfall.
17th & 18th August Tractorfest. This is an event we have attended for several years. Since returning after Covid it has attracted a high number of visitors and has been very good for our members.
26th August Le Marche, Heathfield. A very well-established event that attracts a very good footfall. Very popular with members so early booking is advised
13th to 15th September Bentley Woodfair. This event has proved popular with the public since returning to this location. It attracts a strong footfall and has been good for members in past years.
26th October Herstmonceux Village Hall. A very good location and our start of the Christmas season.
16th & 17th November Cooden Beach Hotel. Another very popular venue which has proved to be well attended by the public and stallholders.
23rd November Rotherfield Village Hall. We are returning to this venue a bit later in the year. This time of year, proved popular on our first visit a few years ago.
Other events we are looking at
11th May Plumpton College Open Day. This proved popular with some members who attended last year. We are hoping to have a designated Weald Crafts area. More news shortly.
7th December House of Friendship, Lewes. We are hoping to take over a small event which some of our members have attended in the last couple of years. Again, more information when we have finalised details
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting will be held at Robertsbridge Village Hall on Thursday 15th February. Members are invited to attend from 7pm for a 7-30pm start. Light refreshments will be served.
Ron Buchanan has decided that he wishes to lighten his workload and will be standing down as Vice-chairman. He is willing to carry on as a committee member.
The other committee members have all expressed their willingness to stand for re-election but there are still opportunities for others to join.
It is always good to have new blood, with new ideas, so if you think you can make a contribution, either as Vice-chairman or some other capacity please contact the Secretary for more information.
It would be good to see as many members as possible to share views on events and the future direction of the group.
