Specialising in: Jewellery
Jules Ash uses the process of electroforming to cover organic items such as seashells, leaves, feathers and seeds in pure silver. This technique essentially involves coating the items with a metal-based paint so they become conductive and then electroplating them for many hours until a solid skin of metal is created all over the item. It is then preserved forever within the silver which means every piece is totally unique.
Jules learned how to do this unusual technique when working for a jeweller in Lewes and has been involved in making this particular type of jewellery for 16 years now. She has been running her own electroformed jewellery business, The Silvery, for 10 years, originally in Lewes and since 2018 in Bexhill-on-Sea where you can visit her by appointment at her workshop in London Road.
As well as making collections of nature themed jewellery Jules also welcomes commissions to coat your own special items in silver which is a wonderful way of preserving your own treasures and creating bespoke gifts to be cherished.
